Trauma Counseling in Phoenix

You’ve been contemplating this for a while and have realized that others aren’t ready to change, but you are. You’re ready to feel better about yourself, feel hopeful, feel in control of your life. Now, you may wonder, how do I find a therapist that gets it, that will support you through this journey, that will make it feel okay to talk about things that you haven’t even shared with your close friends or family?

Hi I’m Leslie and I can help!

I’m Leslie Daugherty, a marriage and family therapist, licensed in Arizona (LMFT-15354), practicing in Phoenix.

From the beginning of my work it became clear that our pasts impact our present. And if we don't realize that, we can inadvertently impact all of our relationships and the next generation. Whether that is a parent passing along their anxiety from unresolved trauma or a partner bringing their trauma from past relationships-the hurt will keep coming unless we become aware of it and stop it. Observing the havoc that traumatic events can unknowingly bring into our lives, furthered my curiosity to learn more about trauma and how these significant experiences alter how we view ourselves, others, and how we expect this world will treat us.

I am passionate about working with adults one on one to help them dig into the spots that are often really hard to access but that fuel the hurt, anxiety, and trauma. I've gotten specialized trauma training including EMDR, DBT, CBT, and mindfulness so that I have a WIDE range of tools to help humans heal. Some of my tools even allow healing without talking-because some things are just too hard to say aloud.

So if you’re ready to begin working through these experiences and find a way to integrate them into your life instead of having them take over your life, I have the tools to support you through this journey.

My specialties include childhood trauma, anxiety, toxic relationships, and sexual trauma. I use EMDR, DBT, and CBT along with mindfulness. During our 15 min consultation, we’ll discuss what approach may be the best fit for you.
